A global event series to welcome recent graduates to our alumni community
October 2022 saw international alumni networks welcome new graduates into our LSE alumni community in locations around the world through the Welcome to the City global event series. These events provided a great opportunity for our newest alumni to meet with other LSE alumni living in their area, and find out more about their local alumni community, and the learning and support resources available to them wherever they are in the world.
Our international alumni groups acted as the perfect hosts, and the events were a great success. More than 1,000 alumni signed up to attend one of the 45 in-person events that were held in different cities across the globe. Evening activities ranged from networking nights and quiz nights, to dinners with high-profile special guests such as alumna Her Excellency Lilly Nichols, Canada’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, who participated in the event in Dhaka.
The Welcome to the City global event series is a testament to how our alumni group leaders and volunteers support and promote LSE globally, and demonstrate their deep commitment to supporting the next generation
LSE is such an extraordinary university, so I cannot be more than happy when I get the chance to meet and learn from fellow alumni. This year's Welcome to the City event was truly remarkable as we also had the presence of Ambassador Lyster-Binns and his wife, alongside alumni from many different graduation cohorts, going back several decades.
Our Welcome to the City event in Toronto was a huge success! We hosted it at an interesting venue and the space was perfect for facilitating social networking. Alumni from across generations attended, something which added to the success of the evening. Our new graduates were really delighted to meet and network with alumni of all ages living in the city.
