Improving people’s lives through better government and better governance

The world needs effective public policy more than ever to face the biggest challenges of our time. The choices we make in the near future to protect the environment and keep our communities healthy and safe will determine our fate on this planet for centuries to come.

At LSE’s School of Public Policy, we are training the next generation of policy and political leaders to design innovative solutions that will change people’s lives for the better. The transformative £1,000,000 gift from alumnus Duncan Clark OBE (BSc Economic History 1990) will enable us to deliver on our ambitious mission, providing matched funding for School of Public Policy scholarships.

His generous support will help equip our graduates with the tools, knowledge and skills they need to address our most pressing problems and make an immediate impact on communities worldwide.

Efficient and fair government are the glue that binds our societies together in an age where disillusionment, disinformation and distrust are threatening to pull them apart.  Drawing on LSE’s unparalleled international reach and world-leading research, the School of Public Policy is uniquely well placed to help policy makers deliver evidence-based solutions to the challenges of our time.  I’m delighted to support the School of Public Policy to help policy makers raise their game and shape our world for the better.

“We are committed to bringing the most talented with the greatest potential to LSE. Duncan’s generous support will ensure that students from lower socio-economic backgrounds can access LSE’s transformative learning experience and grow into agents of social change.

Professor Dilly Fung, LSE Pro-Director for Education

We are immensely grateful to Duncan for his generosity and commitment. His philanthropic support will create a step-change in our work over the next ten years, ensuring that the best students from all nations and backgrounds can become the future policy leaders the world needs to overcome emerging challenges.
