LSE’s new Marshall Building opens its doors
Since opening its doors in January 2022, the Marshall Building, our latest landmark on campus, is already transforming campus life.
Designed by award-winning studio Grafton Architects and located at the south-west corner of Lincoln’s Inn Fields, it is LSE’s largest building with ten storeys plus two basement levels.
The development provides our students with innovative lecture theatres, adaptable teaching rooms, flexible study spaces and a much-needed base where they can spend their time on campus when not in lectures and classes. It also houses high-spec sports and arts facilities including a new sports hall, squash courts, a dynamic weights room and an arts rehearsal area.
The Marshall Building is the new home for our business and finance-focused disciplines. It accommodates the Departments of Accounting, Finance and Management, as well as the Marshall Institute or Philanthropy and Social Enterprise, the Systemic Risk Centre and the Financial Markets Group.
Entry to the building is through the Great Hall, a vast civic space which will rapidly become a lively, vibrant hub that all members of our campus community can enjoy. The Hall is the perfect setting for large-scale events and will enable us to welcome prospective students, alumni and partners on campus.
We are profoundly grateful to Paul Marshall for his transformative gift towards the building. His generous support enabled us to turn our vision of creating a world-class estate commensurate with our academic reputation into a reality.
