Peruvian Scholarships for Public Service launched by the LSE School of Public Policy

Through generous donations, the LSE School of Public Policy is delighted to announce the creation of the Peruvian Scholarships for Public Service.

The new scholarships will train future generations of public policy professionals who are ordinarily resident in Peru. By supporting those who would otherwise lack the financial means to study at LSE, the scholarships will address skills gaps to promote the country’s continued economic development.

The School of Public Policy was founded in 2018, under the leadership of Professor Andrés Velasco as its inaugural Dean. It is a highly international and diverse community where emerging academic research meets the practice of policy-making, creating professionals in public policy with the ability to analyse, understand and resolve the challenges of contemporary governance.

The Peruvian Scholarships for Public Service reflect the purpose of the School of Public Policy and the mission of LSE, which was founded in 1895 ‘to understand the causes of things, for the betterment of society’.

On behalf of LSE, I am delighted to receive this generous gift which will enable the transformational benefit of an LSE education to reach a wider group of talented individuals in Peru. We already have strong philanthropic and educational partnerships in the region, and I am proud to add this new scheme to our work. I look forward to welcoming the exceptional scholars that this scheme will fund.

Professor Andrés Velasco, Dean of the School of Public Policy
