Will you help a student accept their place at LSE this September?

One of LSE’s unique strengths is our diverse and global community – those who join us from all corners of the globe and all walks of life, bringing new perspectives to society’s greatest challenges. In today’s uncertain world, with its associated financial implications, it is more difficult than ever for young people to join our community. With the sharp increases in the cost-of-living, and student maintenance loans not increasing with the rate of inflation, more students than ever are needing help to bridge the gap between their loans and living costs.

Emma McCoy, Vice President and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education)

LSE spent £31.8m on supporting students last academic year, but unfortunately this doesn’t go nearly far enough to address the urgent need for support among our students. This year, we were only able to offer scholarships to 14% of those who applied for undergraduate funding, and demand is growing.

Will you donate to our Scholarship Fund before 30 June to help a student to take up their place this September? Every gift to our Scholarship Fund will directly support a talented student like Lois or Trudie, enabling them to accept their place at LSE and go on to reach their potential.

Trudie Roiz de Sa (BSc Social Policy and Sociology 2011)

Receiving my scholarship enabled me to come to LSE, and it started my journey towards all that I have achieved to date. I wouldn’t be where I am today without it, leading a team specialising in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. My LSE course opened my eyes to many core concepts that I deal with today - including intersectionality, power dynamics and social justice. It fuelled my desire to work in a field where equality and fairness are core principles. I am living proof that the generosity you provide is invaluable. To all the donors who have supported the New Futures Fund Scholarships since their launch in 2002, I want to say a huge thank you.

By donating today, you will help to provide another scholarship for a talented student who has worked hard to earn their place at LSE, but who, without a helping hand, will find it difficult to accept their offer this September.

In doing so, you would be joining a community of donors who, over the last 20 years, have collectively provided 249 students with a New Futures Fund Scholarship. Those students are now living in 40 countries around the world. They are teachers, economists, policy makers, lawyers, politicians – each working to support and shape the societies and communities around them.
