The LSE Canadian Scholarship Fund: The next generation of Canadian leaders
There are more than 4,500 LSE alumni in Canada making an impact throughout the nation. We count leaders such as the Rt Hon Pierre Trudeau and the Hon Bill Morneau among our notable alumni.
LSE is the best place for today’s students to gain the skills and experience they need to become Canada’s next generation of leaders and innovators – but the number of students coming to LSE from Canada is falling.
Students all over the world are under increasing financial pressure. Growing inequality and sharp increases in the cost of living mean that a world-class university education is becoming out of reach for many students from Canada and elsewhere.
Creating a Lasting Impact
Established by a group of generous alumni, the LSE Canadian Scholarship Fund has reached the first milestone of C$1.5m. This will provide one talented Canadian student with a scholarship in perpetuity.
We are delighted to announce Amélie Philipp-Kirshner as the inaugural recipient of the LSE Canadian Fund Scholarship. Amélie arrived this academic year to study for her MSc Media and Communications at LSE, and we warmly welcome her to the LSE community.

I would not have been able to attend LSE without a scholarship. The financial burden of tuition and the cost of living would have been too great. Receiving the scholarship relieved significant financial pressure and allowed me to pursue studies in a subject and in a city that truly inspires me.
Our long-term ambition is to create an endowment worth C$5m, and as part of the School’s commitment to students from Canada, LSE will match returns from the fund to double the amount of support we, together, can offer.

Scholarship donors ensure we can continue to make the world a better place through the knowledge the School creates and the brilliant minds it educates. Thank you for allowing these exceptional students to realise their dreams at LSE.
Join fellow alumni across Canada in making a meaningful contribution to the LSE Canadian Scholarship Fund, so that students like Amélie can achieve their academic goals here at LSE. Your gift will help us reach our goal of supporting four exceptional Canadian students every year—empowering them to pursue their academic dreams at LSE and shape the future.
